Through thousands of military burials, Memorial Honor Detail volunteers at Riverside National Cemetery have folded the American flag 13 times and recited the significance of every fold to survivors of those being laid to rest.

What is the national average for the ASVAB?

SERIOUSLY IMPORTANT QUESTION Jan. 5th, 2007 @ 09:23 pm

Jeapordy of my future is in your hands
If wrong advice is given

(just kidding)
No, but really I need to know this...:

What is this stuff about them "downsizing" the air force I hear? What does this mean exactly, that they are kcking the soldiers OUT? Can they even DO that? I was planning on joining this year. Should I pick another branch? Can someone tell me about this, and anything that they've heard about it?

I've heard before that the Air Force branch of the military is the most filled (albeit the best). If this is true, I'm not gonna want to enter, and would rather prefer a smaller one. Does it even matter at all, or is there even  a real major difference at where you are stationed (I know the Navy you are on a ship and everything...) All I want is some benefits and a chance to serve my country. The army may be in consideration now, due to my hearing of the stuff I just asked about above.
Is there a major difference in the consideration of which branch you should choose in relation to the job you want to have??

Operation Holiday Card Dec. 11th, 2006 @ 09:15 pm
roundandround2

Dear Friends,

            Operation Holiday Card was a huge success.  My goal for the project was to collect 200 cards.  In the end we collected over 1500 cards.  What a blessing to our troops.  Cards came in from all across the country; from California to Maine. They came from Brownie troops, from classrooms, from offices, and from homes.  The our-pouring of support was amazing.

            With such a large number of cards I was able to reach out to two different bases to spread Holiday cheer to the troops.  The cards were sent to an Air Force Base in Kuwait and a joint Air Force/Army base near Baghdad.  One of the men who will be passing out the cards, SMSgt Lopez, told me, “I tell you it wouldn't happen if there weren't dedicated Americans to [do] these heart-warming events.”  Together we were able to bring smiles to the faces of many serving overseas during this difficult time.

            Thank you so much for your participation in this project.  Every card you wrote touched another service member.  December is a hard time to be away from your friends and family but these brave men and women do with without question.

            Since there was such a huge response to this collection I promise that it will not be the last.  As long as there are troops deployed during the Holidays there will be Operation Holiday Card.  So watch your mailbox next year as we will continue to make the Holidays a little brighter for those serving out county.

            This collection has been an amazing show us support.  Thank you so much for your participation.

Operation Holiday Card Dec. 1st, 2006 @ 10:31 am
roundandround2

Dear friends,

Operation Holiday Card has had an amazing response.  So far I have collected 396 cards.  What a wonderful gift to our servicemen and women.  But we can do better.  Just think of the numbers we could reach if each one of you sent in 2 cards.  My original goal for the project was 200 cards, my new goal is 600.  One donor promoted this cause in her workplace and sent in 200 cards!  So please take a few minutes today.  Write a note to an airmen or soldier inside your card.  Your words of support mean so much to these people.  Cards can be sent to:

Operation Holiday Card
PMB
284
6658 Youree Dr   Suite 180

Shreveport, LA 71105

There is a limited time on this collection since the cards will then have to be sent overseas.  Collection ends Dec 10, 2006, cards must be received by that date.  So please take a few minutes and send your card(s) today!

Thank you!

*Stockings for Troops* Nov. 25th, 2006 @ 02:55 am
nennerfree
Hello everyone,
My cousin Kelly just got back from Iraq with the Marines, but her husband and a bunch of close friends are still out there. For Christmas, my cousin Emily and I are making stockings for the 22 members of her platoon.
Here are some of the things we plan to include:
* Cookies
* Candy
* Hand-painted miniature picture frames
* Books and puzzles (Sudoku, Mad Libs, joke books, word searches, etc)
* Stationery and supplies to write home
* Individualized letters from 3rd graders
* Sanitary products
* And a bunch of other miscellaneous toys and games to help pass the time
* Holiday movies, such as The Santa Clause, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Christmas Story, etc.

However, it has taken much more money than we anticipated and my funds are just about out. I really don't want to abandon the idea, so I am hoping that anyone who reads this may have a few extra dollars. It doesn't have to be much, but anything, even $1, would help!

If you can't, I completely understand. But if you can spare a little extra let me know!
You can e-mail me at nennerfree@aol.com with any questions.
I also have a Paypal account set up if you would prefer to do it that way. I think all you need is my e-mail address, which again, is nennerfree@aol.com

Thank you in advance to any who can help!

Sincerely,
Jenna Porter

Operation Holiday Card Nov. 9th, 2006 @ 02:30 pm
roundandround2

Dear friends,

My husband is currently deployed and will be spending his first Christmas away from his family.  I know he is not alone.  So, I am organizing a Holiday Card collection.  In an effort to support him, and the many troops like him, I am asking you to send a Christmas, Hanukkah,
Holiday card addressed to an unknown serviceman or woman.  These people are away from their families in this season and we want them to know we support them.  I will be collecting these cards and forwarding them to my husband and others I know overseas.  They will in turn distribute them directly to the troops on their bases.  Cards can be sent to:

Operation Holiday Card
PMB

Shreveport, LA 71105

There is a limited time on this collection since the cards will then have to be sent overseas.  Collection ends
Dec 10, 2006, so please take a few minutes and send your card(s) today!

Thank you!
